Not a lot of help. They weren't made at an even x-number per year, so extrapolating your serial in that range isn't going to be exact. If the production was relatively linear then I'd guess 1928- ish. We use the Standard Catalog of S&W, 4th edition, to determine the approximate date of manufacture. Your serial prefix AYV is not listed in our tables, but other sequences around that are in 1988.
