Fellowship amounts are nontaxable where: • The recipient is an individual, who is a candidate for a degree at an educational organization such as Harvard University (i.e., undergraduates or graduate students, but not post docs); and • The fellowship amount is used for "qualified tuition and related expenses."This incoming group of fellows is the largest cohort in over 20 years. Over 200 students have benefited from the Self Graduate Fellowship since it was established in 1989. The Self Graduate Fellowship is a four-year package awarded to incoming or first-year doctoral students who demonstrate leadership, initiative and passion for achievement.
