Apr 9, 2006 · The 700 or 4L60 have terrible gear spacing for drag racing. For somebody just wanting to cruise around and not beat on their car the 700/4L60 works fine. A 2004R is a better transmission because it's stronger and has better gear spacing. After that a TH400 and Gear Vendor is the way to go. For those with a Gear Vendors overdrive unit installed on their TH400 have any of you ever had any vibration issues when using the Gear Vendors Overdrive. ... I have the gear vendors in mine T400 behind a 540 it is great. 3.73 turn into 2.90. The 700 r does have a lower first gear and a taller final drive. So your 4.10 might become a 2.90. The GV final drive is .77 while the 700 I think is like .7.
