I have a 16 gauge A5 with the serial number stamped on the front of reciever near the feed. it is as follows: 1R. 70581. the 1R is above the 70581. I am unsure if this is a 1961 model "standard or older. On the right side of barrel it reads: Made in Belgium. on the left side of barrel it reads: ** special steel-16 gauge-2 3/4 shells-.Browning used the process extensively on guns made in ’68 and ’69 plus also a good many done in ’67 and ’70. The higher grades were affected more than the lower grades as they used the salt curing mostly on the good blanks.
