Best doom wads of all time
Registered: 04-17. Posted January 24, 2021. I've always enjoyed projects that aren't so much wads or even mods but most accurately described as stand alone games that happen to use the GZDoom engine. The Adventures of Square, Blade of Agony and Hedon are some that I've particularly enjoyed.Feels classic but modern, like it fell out of a parallel universe where Doom II did have a shareware episode, just one that was bigger and more challenging. There's still stuff I need to check out too, like Morior Invictus which looks like a really cool vintage-style vanilla megawad, and Liminal Doom, among others. I think there will be many ...There is also a reason why these questions are asked again - In general, by new Doomers that have yet to experience classic Doom and are used to Doom 2016. So its an understandable development, but that does not mean that it should be an acceptable one. The search button is there for exactly these questions, after all. But that's just my 2 cents.

Doom Raider: Crypt of the Vile oh my god, the links from 2003 still work - This is an incredible puzzle-based map with an Egyptian them, starring Laura Croft in the place of Doomguy. Be prepared for lots of jumping, poison darts, falling floors, and crushing chambers. One of my favorites for atmosphere.If you want something easier, you might look into the two Final Doom wads, plutonia and tnt. These are dickish, but not as hard as the ones I mentioned. Maybe the fact of people voting for those old WADs means that those WADs are still good, maybe it's because those WADs just have the advantage of more time to become known. Mercifully, 2021 is almost over, and as we look toward the bright future that awaits us next year (...At the same time the weapons are 'just right' and have a certain timing that is just plain nice. Everyone copied from Doom when it came out, yet it still is a great game, even today. So I guess best bet is to buy the game and then use GZDoom to run it in a modern graphic mode + be able to run all the new wads.
